Like other MUDs, Shattered World is an online multiplayer game. To enter the game, you need some way to connect to it via telnet.

Once connected, you create a character and control him/her by typing in commands; e.g. "look at sword". The game is text-based, which allows you almost unlimited flexibility in what you can do within it.
